Vodafone top UK operatorVodafone rise in customer numbers keeps company in top spotJanuary 2006
Vodafone announced today that it now had 16.3 million
customers, a rise of 7 per cent. During the busy third quater
the company added 7.1 million customers, growth driven mailny
by demand for 3G. This keeps Vodafone in the top spot for UK mobile
operators.
While competition in established markets such as
the UK resulted in lower growth, Vodafone reported good performances
from Spain and the US, with emerging market operations also continuing
to perform well.
Vodafone noted that Verizon added a record net new
customers of over 2 million in the quarter.
