Panasonic today unveiled the Panasonic X70 mobile phone, its new stylish clamshell camera phone for 2003. Following the highly successful GD87, the Panasonic X70 is 20% smaller than its predecessor and packed with enhanced features Shipments for the European market are scheduled to begin this autumn.

Panasonic X70 takes full advantage of its 65,000 colour, Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display screen with clear photo messaging via Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), e-mail or bluetooth. With its built-in camera, the Panasonic X70 keeps your friends close-by wherever you go. It takes great digital photos and allows you to store them, view them or send them – anytime, anywhere. The Panasonic X70 is also equipped with a photo light to assist you when taking photos under dark conditions.

The Panasonic X70 is small and light, measuring 87.3 x 47.1 x 24 mm and weighing only 95 grams. It supports up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 290 hours of stand-by time, as well as a 16-tone polyphonic ringer that produces a high quality tone sound.

By introducing this new clamshell design into the very popular mobile camera phone market, Panasonic aims to strengthen its camera phone line-up, and become one of the world’s leading manufacturers for mobile phone technology.
