Picture Messaging comes to life
Vodafone
Selects Alatto to bring Picture Messaging to Life 10
December 2002 Vodafone today announced that it will
be the first mobile operator to empower end users to author, manage
and send their own personal multimedia messages (MMS) using the revolutionary
Memphis platform from Alatto Technologies. According
to Fiona O'Connor, Product Marketing Manager for Vodafone, "Other
operators simply provide a limited library of MMS content for users.
By using Memphis, our Vodafone Live Picture Messaging Service will
go far beyond this. Vodafone customers will get more out of their MMS
handsets by building and forwarding their own content. This form of
user-generated content will drive the adoption of MMS in the same way
as SMS, e-mail and even the Web". "Memphis
is easy to use and allows users to create high impact, ready-to-run
MMS in minutes without any programming skills", said John Whelan,
Director of Alatto. "Only by designing this system completely
from the ground up were we able to anticipate and meet the specific
needs of innovative mobile operators such as Vodafone". O'Connor
explained the decision to join forces with Alatto: "When we launch
our full Picture Messaging service before Christmas, we want our customers
to have access to compelling content and stimulating experiences that
are second to none. Memphis provides a very powerful tool which consumers
will be very comfortable using every day. In addition, it provides
high levels of flexibility, scalability and cost effectiveness which
were important considerations for us". "The
rigorous selection process undertaken by Vodafone yet again proves
that Alatto is a dominant specialist in the wireless space", continued
John Whelan. "We are delighted to help Vodafone achieve their
vision of enriching customers' lives with relevant and engaging mobile
applications." www.alatto.com |
