3D game for mobile phones from Cybiko/Superscape partnership 03
February 2003 Interactive 3D enabling technology specialist,
Superscape plc and US-based Cybiko Wireless Inc., announce that they
are jointly developing a sophisticated 3D multi-player Java-based maze
game for mobile phones. The new game - entitled Stop Thief - will be
available in the second quarter 2003 and will be designed to run on
all ARM 9 and Java-enabled mobile phones. Cybiko Wireless, a
leading developer of wireless games, is using Superscape's Swerve technology
to create Stop Thief, which will be the first in a portfolio of new
3D games from the two companies. Players of Stop Thief hide
treasures in their neighbourhood and then train their character to
go out and steal valuables from other users. The goal is to steal the
most desirable items using strength, speed and intelligence, and make
the top ten most wanted list. Users are able to train on their handsets
before opening up their virtual neighbourhoods to all challengers on
the network. Donald Wisniewski, President of Cybiko said: "This
is one of the first 3D games to be developed under the new relationship
with Superscape and incorporates the key attributes for a successful
multi-player mobile game. It is fast, addictive and requires considerable
skill. The game is heavily viral and should build up a strong community
of users. "Superscape's Swerve technology is extremely powerful
and flexible and is enabling us to build what we believe will be the
most advanced 3D games available for consumers worldwide." Kevin
Roberts, CEO, Superscape plc said: "I am delighted by the progress
that the designers at Cybiko are making with our Swerve technology
and the development of the first of many new 3D games. Cybiko has an
outstanding pedigree in the global wireless sector for building top
titles. I believe that the combination of our technology with their
games development skills will deliver yet another winner." Cybiko
