The innovative wireless software specialist elata has partnered with Synergenix, a leading European developer of mobile gaming technology, to deliver new generation games to European mobile users.

Together, elata’s senses and Synergenix’s C-based gaming engine ‘Mophun™’ will deliver compelling, feature-rich mobile games geared specifically towards the youth market to create a console-like gaming experience for subscribers.

The Sony Ericsson T300, which features a full colour screen and polyphonic sound, will be the first of many handsets to take advantage of the elata senses platform and Synergenix’s Mophun gamelets to deliver user-friendly games and heighten player experience.

Analysts Datamonitor predict that 200 million customers in Europe and the US will be playing games on mobile phones by 2005, helping to create a worldwide market worth £4 billion in annual revenue. Mobile gaming is expected to be a key revenue generator for cash-strapped European operators in 2003 as they try to recoup some of their massive £22.5m investment in 3G licences.

"Mobile gaming is not just about wireless Java, but advanced C-based games, which are vibrant, fast and colourful. These applications will provide subscribers with the ultimate gaming experience they have long been waiting for," said Matt Hooper, Vice President of Marketing and Alliances at elata. "Our partnership with Synergenix will provide mobile operators with a rich marketing environment to build, target and provision compelling gaming packages to subscribers, in what looks set to become one of the most profitable immediate and future markets."

Cyrus Allen, Director Content Alliances at Sony Ericsson said: We are delighted that elata is supporting the delivery of Mophun content to the Sony Ericsson T300. Mophun technology is helping Sony Ericsson deliver an exceptional colour gaming experience in a mass market mobile phone today, and the reception from consumers and operators has been very good. elata's initiative to support Mophun will mean more opportunities for operators to earn revenue through compelling game downloads and better game-play for consumers.
